From January 20-22, Valencia hosted the latest edition of FIMI, which, with more than 200 exhibitors, occupied a total of 5,000 sqm. This year’s collections revolved around four main themes: poetic world, classic essence, urban hunter and futuristic look.
Poetic World

Poetic World prepared us for a truly romantic Autumn/Winter season with propositions that ooze with imagination. Retro lines featuring bows, lace, tulle, and gatherings characterised the garments of this multicoloured world. Floral and animal patterns were prominent too, combined with thick-knit garments to beat the coldest of winters and allow layering and mixing and matching.
Bambolina, Elisa Menuts, Pan con Chocolate and Larrana are just some of the brands that presented collections around this theme.

The Classic Essence

Foque.
The Classic Essence style so central to children’s fashion had to be there too, bringing remakes of the age-old classics and a look back to the quality tailoring of years gone by. Classic lines included essential accessories such as hats and scarves but above all capes, which are back with a vengeance this year and featured in the collections of brands such as Kobez, Foque and Cóndor.

Urban Hunter

Ranges on the Urban Hunter theme were inspired in the great woods of Canada, Siberia and China. Warm clothing such as the anoraks, large check tartans and fur gilets that began to make their appearance last winter are set to be favourites in 2012/2013.

Bóboli.

This theme’s colours are colder and include a range of blues, combined with chestnut browns and brighter, acid greens to recreate the colours of nature’s autumn.

The creations of Lea Lelo, Lourdes, Elisa Menuts, Tuc Tuc and Bóboli were particularly noteworthy in this section.
Futuristic Look

Tutto Piccolo.
The Valencia fashion show also took us into the future with the Futuristic Look theme, which included a range of more comfortable clothing. Inspired by popular loungewear, denim featured heavily in this section with jogging-suit-like garments adapted for the big city.
Details such as zips, knee patches, elbow patches and large buttons, together with patterns inspired in space and a colour trilogy of blue, grey and white, are the main pillars of the clothes of the future.
This section included brands such as Bóboli, Pan con Chocolate, Tutto Piccolo, Oh Soleil! and Kukuxumuxu.

Mini-footwear at FIMI

Cuquito.
To complete the miniature made-in-Spain look, Spanish children’s footwear brands have adapted their adult fashion for children’s feet. Cuquito has extended its miniatures range with the new Cuquito Xtreme line, in which fashion takes the form of metallic designs in silver, shiny black, gold and earthy tones, among others.
The new Cuquito Up Gatea line is specially designed for little ones who can’t yet walk, but are not far off. The soles of its highly flexible leather shoes have reinforced heels and toes to ensure a high level of support and safety.
Mayoral, one of the most traditional brands in children’s clothing, chose FIMI to present its second footwear collection for the first time: a varied selection ranging from the most functional designs for the everyday and for wearing to school, to more classical lasts for special occasions.

Boots were the stars of the Lea Lelo collection. Made of strong leather to endure the frenetic pace of children’s feet, they come in versatile styles with ethnic touches and buckle adornments.

Gioseppo.

Gioseppo.
Gioseppo Kids and Oca-Loca continue with their tendency to dress the little ones with adult lines. As well as its characteristic versions of Wellington boots, Gioseppo Kids has gone for a nature-inspired colour palette for daytime, and velvet, worked leather and patent for the evening. Oca-Loca opted for a collage of materials such as tweed, fur, metallic materials, sequins and animal prints, with a particularly prominent mini Oxford cut line.
