NEXT SHOW DATES
11-13 March 2010
The 28th edition of Modacalzado, the international footwear show, showed off the latest hot summer styles from international names, at the Fiera de Madrid convention centre, September 24-26, 2009.
Not afraid of playing with colour, the brands have gone for a vibrant, sexy summer with original leather treatments, including suede in many different shades and snakeskin in diverse finishes. Green, turquoise, fuchsia, orange and pink make for a bright summer.
Femininity
Once again Chie Mihara has revealed some of the most stylish shoes of the event. The Esli design, with its ivory flecks, is reminiscent of the heroines of the 1940s, while Encuentro is an exercise in restrained sensuality, with a warm suede texture, fresh forest green colour and an original cascade of little bows on the instep.
All things nautical are a source of inspiration in the spring/summer 2010 collection by Vienty, colour-wise – red, white and blue with hints of gold – and in the motifs, with a profusion of knots and anchors. The sandals sport white rubber wedges and shoes with heels are in contrasting colours.

Rebeca Sanver opts for natural textures in a collection which mixes suede with smooth leather and plaiting. She has also gone for die-cut models with little hearts across the shoe. Flower appliqué and bows that spring from the instep or fringes that start at the heel are the favoured decorations for next summer.

Luxury for feet
Magrit stays true to Swarovski crystal in its Evening line, which has designs filled with butterflies, golden heels and a dual-coloured double platform. Some heels come in a luxurious mixture of textures, including crystal, satin and fringes with gold.

The Pura López stand was full of sensual shoes by the Spanish designer, arranged by colour which is more restrained and natural for spring/summer 2010. Make-up tones, aged blue, brown and forest green predominate in high or mid-heeled shoes which mix textures such as suede and wood with studs and rivets. Animal prints offer the sexiest looks.

Pons Quintana uses its typical plaited look in an irresistible selection of colours that range from pale pink to sepia and navy blue, with up-to-the-minute results. The more classic and restrained tones include cream and black, which is also present in a design which contrasts textures, mixing plaited and smooth leather.

Sexy and youthful
Heels reached their dizziest at the El Dantés Group stand. For its Ito 3 range, the company has gone for a rock-style stiletto, brimming with rivets, studs and strass, and a challenging line in high-fronted, perforated or denim designs. Its Roberto Botella collection uses patent leather in hot tones – fuchsia, turquoise – with gold or silver notes, cone-shaped heels and cork wedges with leather soles.

Sacha London went for something different with high peep-toes with satin or cloth bows on the instep, while the most colourful line was die-cut. Its Sachelle brand has gone for a more casual style, based on brightly-coloured wedges, and Sachatoo features bright finishes and ethnic motifs.
Looky opted for thick heels for the new season, pointed ankle boots and open heels, metallicised snakeskin and wood combined with leather. The more ethnic line has beads on brown leather and green suede.

Gioseppo invited us to a session of colour therapy with multi-coloured lace-up plimsolls. Its casual footwear comes in natural shades and dyed artificial snakeskin. Clogs with wooden structures and backstitched moccasins in different colours are the mainstays of this collection.
Victoria won us over with its “misused” plimsolls, with tie-dyed soles. The brand presented a collection designed by Ailanto, using the prints from its summer collection, from ankle boots to camping shoes with bows.

The most comfortable side of design was represented by Romus, with low-heeled flip-flops and leather-lined wedges, or Pikolinos, with comfortable wide strapped sandals and medium wooden heels or criss-cross bar shoes.

Sancho Boots
Sancho Boots specialises in cowboy boots and won’t disappoint its fans with this latest collection in classic natural shades, with raised toe designs and large aged buckles and studs. Black appears on some occasions, as does a patchwork effect, made by mixing smooth and patterned leathers.
Shoes for him
Alongside its classic men’s Oxford shoes, Pertini offers suede moccasins with fringes in bold colours including purple and green, or plaited shoes and even tweed mixed with leather. Colour was kept for its sporty models.

And for little ones

Cienta stuck to washed fabrics and eco ethics in a 100% natural collection which has the Made in Green label. The cotton used, and the absence of polluting substances, are the rule in these stylish designs for girls and boys aged 0 to 10.
