Isdin is a joint-venture between two Spanish groups, cosmetics producer Puig and pharmaceuticals laboratory Esteve. Right from its creation in 1975, Isdin has specialised in the dermatological sector, developing an extensive range of skincare products (sunscreen, face creams, body lotions...) and treatments (for acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, micosisxx and other skin conditions). Over the years, it has launched innovative products like its jelly-fish repellent cream which has recently been launched in Spain and is 85% effective against these sea creatures.
The Isdin business model is based on a close relationship with physicians and pharmacists. Consequently, some of its products are only available on prescription, although they are always associated with others that can be bought over the counter. Always up on the very latest technology, Isdin has incorporated innovative release systems to promote the efficacy and safety of its active ingredients. The company is also firmly committed to environmental preservation.
Isdin went global in 1997, using commercial subsidiaries and distribution agreements. It now exports to Latin America - and in particular Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Chile and Argentina - and to southern Europe (Portugal and Greece). It has subsidiaries in Portugal, Chile and Argentina. Portugal is also its major export market (48%), followed by Mexico (22%), Brazil (16%) and Greece (6%).
