    Paloma Santaolalla's interview.

    Spanish women’s and accessories brand Nice Things dates back to 1995, when it was founded by Paloma Santaolalla and Miquel Lanna as Nice Day, on the back of more than 25 years’ experience in the design, manufacture and distribution of textiles. Accessories collection Nice Things was launched in 2002 and the two initiatives were then combined in 2008, as Nice Things Paloma S.

    In 2011, the brand universe was extended with a line in clothes for girls aged 2 to 14, Nice Things Mini, plus a range of stationary and school articles.

    The Nice Things think tank and offices are based in Barcelona, where they are in charge of design and the monitoring of the whole production process, as well as distribution via different sales channels.

    Nice Things is synonymous with attention to detail, originality, comfort and personalisation and are designed for women of all ages who are looking for customised fashion they can feel comfortable in all day long.

    Nice Things shops, filled with “pretty things” and tasteful details, live up to their name and are the main communication route for the brand’s “nice” philosophy. Although are all based on the same concept, each new project innovates to surprise customers with new objects, furnishings… Yet the brand’s identity never changes and constant features include “tea light” lamps made with old crockery and a “wall of memories”, with a black background and references to many of the memories which designer Paloma Santaolla draws on in her work.

    With a workforce of 105, Nice Things has grown dramatically in new markets. It currently has 52 standalones (two devoted to children’s wear) and more than 1,200 POS in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, the UK, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Sweden, Netherlands and Russia. Its exports account for 33% of sales.

    Nice Things is a regular exhibitor at Who’s Next (France), Pure London, Premium (Germany) and Mode Fabric (Amsterdam).
