    Ana Carrasco's interview.

In 1997, when Ana Carrasco was still a pharmacy student, she began to make wonderful accessories for friends and relatives. Years later, in 2003, in view of her success, she created Malababa. Ever since, her designer label has gone from strength to strength.

Colourful Malababa accessories – brooches, bags, belts, ear-rings and necklaces –transport us to a fantasy world. The label’s versatility is the result of the variety of materials, finishes and themes used in each of its different lines, from the most romantic to the transgressive, but always with a feminine modern woman at heart.

In mid-2003, the Malababa Workshop opened in the centre of Madrid, which is where its products are designed, created and marketed. Each item is carefully hand-crafted for a uniquely original finish.

Ana Carrasco loans out her accessories to designers for the catwalk, which were used in Macarena Kindelán’s autumn-winter 02-03 collection and Javier Larraínzar’s February 2005 show at Cibeles.

The designs have been exhibited at tradeshows like Bisutex and the SIMM Madrid International Fashion Week. Nowadays, they are regulars at Bread & Butter, where they have appeared ever since the first edition in Barcelona, positioning Malababa as a young label which has carved out a very successful position for itself on the current international fashion scene. It takes part in other trade fairs in the USA and France.

Malababa is on sale at more than 100 points of sale in Spain and exports to Mexico, Argentina, the USA and Japan, where it is available from more than 50 retail outlets. Next on the horizon are exports to France and Britain, for which it has already taken on press and sales representatives.
