Designer from Granada Marifé Peinador founded her company in 2002, though the women’s footwear and accessories label which bears her name dates from 2005. The creative process is the strength of a label for which an idea, a landscape, a poem or an artistic movement can all be sources of inspiration for shoe forms, colours and materials.
Tartesian, Phoenician, Greek, Roman and Arab influence are all apparent in creations which combine depth with cutting-edge design. The resulting baroque style is infused with modernity. The label refuses to "dress" shoes merely to keep up with the latest trends. Its exclusive illustrations, whether printed, laser-engraved or etched on to the leather, are a hallmark of distinction and distinctiveness, like the exclusive travel boxes and bags that come with its footwear.
The first Peinador lab-cum-studio opened in December 2005 in Granada as a point of sale and creative space for the label. Not long after it opened a new atelier in Porto. In 2005, the company had 12 points of sale in Spain and Portugal, which have since grown to 19 and now include Lisbon, Cascais and even Italy (Rome). Its short-term aim is to open new shops in Madrid and Tokyo. Tradeshows like Prêt-à-Porter in Paris and Spain Shoes Exhibition in Tokyo have played a key role in the label’s global expansion.
