As lover of luxury and leather accessories since her teenage years, after getting a degree in Philosophy and Arts at the University of Turin, the German-born Spanish designer Patricia Fontaneda decided to launch her professional career in the world of design.

In Paris, she was assistant to the creative director of Swarovski, Rosemarie Le Gallais, from where she would move on to join the design teams of international luxury labels such as Cartier and Thierry Mugler. She later became Head of Product at Loewe where she developed its accessory collection as well as the Narciso Rodríguez footwear and jewellery range when he was leading the design team for the famous Spanish label.

In 2003, she launched her first independent luxury accessories brand, Co Collections and, with a clear commitment to Spanish-made fashion from the outset, she has worked with some of Spain’s leading manufacturers and craftsmen.

Back in Madrid, where her office/showroom is based (Calle del Pinar 6Bis -28006), she has been presenting and distributing her collections under the TISSA FONTANEDA label since 2010. Her collections are characterised by impeccable quality and artisan workmanship and take the form of bags, gloves, belts and necklaces. All very feminine accessories in which elegance and the use of “Bubble” nappa and her characteristic weave style have become the common denominator of some very personalised ranges.

The designer is currently in the process of diversifying her label to include leather blazers and skirts, which will form part of her collection for Autumn/Winter 2012/2013.

Fine materials such as lambskin leather, calfskin, crocodile skin, python skin and horse hair form part of a select range—sometimes accompanied by Swarovski crystal and ‘Pao Ferro’ wood—that constitute the trademarks of the firm’s accessories and bags.

With over 90% of her products destined for export, Tissa Fontaneda’s leather designs can be found in Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Italy, the US, Canada, Japan and the Philippines. She has participated at Paris’ Première Classe Trade Show and the Scoop International Fashion Show at London’s Saatchi Gallery, and she also has a showroom in Paris (22, Rue Du Dragon).
