Interview with Alvarno.

Álvaro Castejón and Arnaud Maillard are the designers behind ALVARNO, which specialises in a luxury version of women’s ready-to-wear. Trained at the world’s best design schools, in their careers to date, they have worked alongside couture maestros like Karl Lagerfield, Oscar de la Renta and Alexander McQueen.

In 2009, they opted to set up shop in Madrid, bringing the spirit of Paris and their pure, bright and sophisticated approach to fashion to the Spanish capital.

With just three collections on the market, they have already raised ready-to-wear to luxury status, with exquisite fabric choices and close contact with customers, reminiscent of an age gone by. Their designs have a vintage feel achieved with lace, embroidery and classic fabrics like silk, satin and georgette, which are used harmoniously with other new-age materials to inject a contemporary feel.

Their new showroom, at 22, Calle Barquillo in Madrid, has become the studio where the “couturiers” serve their customers in person.

Alvarno’s designs can be found at different points of sale in Spain, as well as on the European online sales website “Watch that Label”, which supports new talent around the world. The United Arab Emirates has become one of the brand’s strategic markets and talks have already begun to establish Alvarno in prestigious department stores like Le Printemps in France and Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.

The designer duo will continue to take part in the Off section of Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week.
