    Interview with Patricia Rosales.

Designer Patricia Rosales’s passion for footwear began at a very young age, when she started collecting shoes “out of pure hedonism”. A graduate in Economic and Business Sciences, with two master’s degrees in Marketing and Graphic Design, Patricia later took an interest in gemmology and crafted footwear. Once she had completed her training in 2008, she created her company, Patricia Rosales, which has its head office in Elda (Alicante). Her first couture shoes were for customers in Saudi Arabia and Russia.

The exquisite craftsmanship of the designer from Almeria, influenced both by the technical virtuosity of designer jewellery and the expertise of the ancient art of shoe-making, Rosales is considered the 21st century’s new bottier. To turn her clients’ wishes into customised shoe designs, she follows a process in which every mould is treated like a toile, and tested in keeping with couture guidelines. Making the most of new technologies, she is able to digitalise the foot and study its anatomy to achieve a shape that fits the foot like a glove. Every item is made from the finest materials: crocodile nappa, eel skin, galuchat, emu feather, python, mink with satin, suede, patent leather, blue sapphire, black diamond, emerald are some of the choices… Finally, her “patricios” are adorned with the brand hallmark, an eight-millimetre pearl inside the heel.

Patricia Rosales’s first collection of jewel shoes was presented in Madrid in 2009. In 2010, she launched ready-to-wear in Madrid, followed by Paris. In June 2011, she will be presenting her new collections, which include a line for men called Rosales Men and the Patricia Rosales Eco line.

Patricia Rosales sees clients on appointment at her two ateliers, in Madrid’s Hotel Selenza and Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme in Paris. Her collections are also available at her online boutique at www.patriciarosalescouture.com.

The brand turns over close on a million euros and has its main markets in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Russia, France and the UK. The export rate stands at about 80%. Beyoncé, Mónica Bellucci, Carolina de Mónaco, Sienna Miller, Marion Cotillard, Laetitia Casta and Madonna are some of the red-carpet celebrities who are fans of the brand.
