Lea Lelo was set up in 2004 by Susana Mazzarino, a fine Arts graduate with an enterprising spirit and a passion for footwear. Eager to follow in the footsteps of her Italian father who, aged just 10, was apprenticed to a handcrafted footwear workshop, Susana decided to launch her very own children’s brand.
Lea Lelo’s children’s shoes are designed to ‘give life to children’s feet’. The company defines its products as biodynamic, technically perfect, with equal doses of comfort and fun, and made from tough, recyclable and ecological materials. Characterised by their sense of fun and unmistakeably Mediterranean roots, and featuring anatomic footbeds and breathable insoles, they guarantee total freedom of movement for kids.
Lea Lelo’s designs are produced by Lexelart, a company with more than 40 years’ experience in the design and sale of leather footwear based in Elche (Alicante) and employing a team of 45.
Lea Lelo by Lexelart currently has 200 points of sale throughout Spain. With an export rate of 65%, the brand is present in more than 20 countries, including France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, the UK and Cyprus.
Lea Lelo has recently set up its first corners in Spain and other markets featuring its spring-summer 2011 collection. The décor of these sales spaces includes all the graphics associated with its cute and eye-catching brand image.
Lea, a savvy lioness, and Leo, a cheerful and fast-moving lion, are the cartoon characters the brand is named after. Together with their group of friends, they live the exciting adventures that are to be found on every Lea Lelo shoe box.
The firm is a regular presence at various trade fairs including FIMI (Valencia), Broga Kildare (Ireland), Moda Birmingham (England) and MICAM (Italy). It will also shortly be exhibiting at Pitti Bimbo (Italy).
