Designer Miquel Suay was born in Xàtiva (Valencia) in 1972 into an artistic family closely linked to the world of fashion, where he was able to develop his creative talents. After completing his studies in design and business management he joined the family firm Creaciones Suay, which has been producing ceremonial and communion wear for more than 30 years. As creative director, he heads up a team of 24.
Today, Miquel Suay designs two product lines: ceremonial wear and ready-to-wear, both of which fit with his view of design as an art form and means of expression.
Miquel Suay’s women’s ceremonial wear offers bridal, party and communion wear that is solidly designed and carefully made, making him one of the big names in bridalwear in Spain. In addition to his own lines, he has licences to produce bridal garments by Devota & Lomba, Francis Montesinos and Cymbeline, and communion wear by Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada and Javier Larrainzar.
He is also responsible for some of Spain’s most innovative groomswear designs, produced for Devota & Lomba and Duyos.
A range of accessories includes bold men’s footwear collections and subtly elegant head-dresses to enhance the personal style of his collections.
His men’s and women’s ready-to-wear balances experimentation with classicism, and sensuality with refinement, using new-age fabrics and asymmetric combinations.
In 1999, he opened his first boutique in Valencia and now has four shops in Xàtiva, Valencia (2) and Gandía. With an export rate of 31%, his collections are sold in Portugal, Germany, Italy, Russia, Turkey and China via more than 150 exclusive points of sale. The designer also has a press and communications showroom in Madrid.
Miquel Suay collections have frequently featured in magazines like Vogue, Collezioni Uomo, Telva, Elle, Esquire and Neo2.
Miquel Suay presents his collections at Valencia Fashion Week, Madrid Novias, 080 Barcelona Fashion, The Brandery and Dalian China CIGF European Designers catwalk. Internationally, the brand also takes part in CPM Collections (Moscow), Tent Showroom (Paris), Guffanti Showroom (Milan), Modatex (Germany) and CISMEF (Guanzhou, China).
