Xavier Zazo and Clara Brull are the designers behind the cutting-edge Spanish womenswear brand zazo&brull. After studying together at the Llotja de Barcelona and the American Mitchell School, they began their career in the year 2000 with catwalk shows at Gaudí. Later they took part in SIMM Madrid Fashion Week and in 2003, attended the International Fashion Fair in Tokyo and launched international sales.
Currently, zazo&brull is located in Barcelona and has its own shop in the Catalan capital, as well as eight points of sale in Spain, five in France, one in Atlanta and two in Austria. It also has its own online accessories shop.
Xavier and Clara have a unique talent for experimenting with volume and for contrasting structured and volatile fabrics. Their collections include designs made entirely in Spanish workshops which pay exquisite attention to detail. With their abundance of imagination, they instil their romantic vision into every collection, which are not without their darker undertones.
They have taken part in exhibitions like Bread&Butter, Rendez-vous Paris, Modefabriek Amsterdam and MQ Vienna. Their collections have also appeared at 080 Barcelona and Valencia Fashion Week, and they have been guests at Gaudí Brides and Bolivia Moda in Santa Cruz.
Their obsession to endow their garments with meaning has led them into partnerships with other artistic disciplines. They have worked with artists like Alicia Framis on her exhibition “Wouldn’t it be nice…” at the Centre D’art Contemporain in Genoa, “From China with love” at the Ante Gelink Gallery in Amsterdam and with Swedish artist Björn Tagemose.
Leading fashion magazines have profiled their work, including Vogue UK with photos by Mario Testino, Vogue France, Vogue Spain, Glamour Italia, l’Officiel Paris…
In addition, zazo&brull were chosen as one of 10 finalists at the 2010 “Button Mango Fashion Awards”, the only Spaniards to do so.
