Born in Spain and at the age of just 33, Joaquín Trías is a self-taught designer of international renown. His strict studies of structure, texture and volume have created a modern, universal, timeless brand with clean-cut elegant lines and a discretion inspired by the designer’s grandmother Frida Trías, model and muse of the great Cristóbal Balenciaga.
Proportion, volume and geometry, alongside copious research and the use of new fabrics have become the brand’s trademark.
His first collection, Lineal Study, was presented in September 2009, at New York Fashion Week, and he has taken part in the show each season ever since. The second collection, Vertical Strength, was characterised by garments that defy verticality as its name suggests, with layering and pleats combined for an ultra-feminine silhouette. Seized Movement is the latest offering, contrasting proportion and volume and, for the first time, includes a small series of belts and shoes in leather and kangaroo skin.
The resulting style is modern, universal and timeless and presents a respectful engineering challenge to linear construction. It is created for a resolute, unique and distant Trias woman, whom everybody wants to be near.
After the presentation of his third collection, Trías began the commercial expansion that has taken his brand to multi-brand points of sale in leading cities such as New York, Paris, London and Antwerp, and into Asian markets such as Japan and China.
