Interview with director Blas Agulló
Biviel is the youngest brand belonging to the Spanish company Fardattchio, based in Elche (Alicante), one of the birthplaces of Spanish footwear. The brand was created in 2004, and has been making sensual, urban women’s footwear in bold but comfortable designs ever since.
Ergonomics is a key element in the Biviel collections and is achieved using the finest, most pliable leather, carefully designed moulds and heels that are comfortable even at giddy heights of more than eight centimetres.
The season’s trends emerge in voguish colours and textures, but always with the unmistakeable Biviel hallmark. Eclectic and stylish, the brand’s creations are positioned mid-market and aimed at women aged 20 to 60.
Germany was Biviel’s first foreign market, and was soon followed by the US, which now accounts for 30% of sales. Later on, the brand set up business in France, Russia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland and exports make up 80% of volume. Biviel has 80 POS in Spain and about 1,000 abroad.
The brand presents collections each season at international footwear exhibitions like WSA (Las Vegas), Sole Commerce and FFANY (New York), GDS (Düsseldorf), Micam (Milan) and Modacalzado (Madrid).
