Spanish group Inditex, owner of Zara and Massimo Dutti, created Uterqüe in 2008 as its fashion accessories brand. On July 17 this year, the chain opened three shops simultaneously in Madrid, Barcelona and A Coruña.

The design team develops the collections at the group’s head offices in Arteixo (A Coruña). Like the other Inditex chains, its footwear division is in Alicante.

Immaculate shop design is the Uterqüe signature. Its image is inspired by old English libraries, with solid wooden furnishings and studied lighting effects to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Recyclable materials are used and the premises are specifically designed to save energy.

Uterqüe looks to a balanced mix of top quality and affordable prices in continually updated collections of footwear, bags and fashion jewellery, which also include leather goods and diverse textiles items.

The company went global in its founding year, in the wake of other Inditex brands. Just a few months after the first openings, it set up shop in Portugal and Greece. There are now 40 Uterqüe boutiques in Spain (30), Portugal (2), Greece (4), Belgium (2), Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (1).

The chain is soon to open shops in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
