Born in Sabadell in Barcelona, Enric Majoral Castells settled in Formentera in 1973, where he taught himself the jeweller’s trade. He first exhibited his wares at itinerant fairs and later began to take part in international exhibitions and conventions. Majoral’s production is virtually handcrafted and is presented as limited series or exclusive pieces. The company’s line in alternative designer jewellery has ensured it stable and steady growth.
For Majoral, jewellery is a key part of personal image and a symbol of modern-day culture. Its bold, frank style stems from a commitment to contemporary jewellery as a crossroads between research and expression. Pure, simple lines, soft volumes, a taste for natural materials and authentic colours have won it universal acclaim, making its trademark lizards into highly coveted objects.
There are currently two Majoral jewellery shops in Formentera, in La Mola and Sant Francesc. The firm’s other shops – both company-owned and franchise-run – are located in Barcelona, Manresa, Girona and Valencia. Majoral has plans for further shops in Barcelona and Madrid. Its collections are available at jewellers’ in Switzerland, Italy and Japan, and will soon go on sale in the USA.
