Vicente Costa founded family firm Vicosta in 1954, now run by his son Jaime Costa Alberola. The company started out in bags and accessories crafted from reed, hide and raffia, but in the Sixties introduced crocodile and snakeskin, creating a style that defined an age for many Spanish women.

Today Vicosta retains the quality of its leather and craftsmanship, which it couples with no-fuss contemporary design and good taste. The development of brand style is apparent at the quiet secluded museum the company has opened at its original Pedreguer facility in the province of Alicante.

The year 2004 marked the company’s 50th anniversary and to celebrate, it sponsored the exhibition 31 takes on a bag at Madrid’s Costume Museum and the IVAM in Valencia. Vicosta now benefits from the creative input and continuity of the family’s third generation and is opening up to new markets.

Vicosta designs are available from top multi-brand retailers like department store El Corte Inglés in Spain and Portugal. Celebrities like actress Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) are known to be fans and have helped boost the brand’s global presence.
