    Natura Bissé´s interview

    Natura Bissé is a family firm founded in Barcelona in 1979 by Ricardo Fisas and his wife, María Gloria Vergés. In a bid for innovation, and aware of the properties of their active ingredients, together they decided to develop cosmetic products based on natural free-form amino acids geared to the professional sector.

    In the Nineties, Natura Bissé began its global expansion in the USA, Central and South America, South-East Asia, and the Middle East. Today, it continues to strengthen its presence on all five continents and is a favourite brand with celebrities.

    Natura Bissé sells products at some of the world’s most exclusive department stores, including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys in New York, Palacio de Hierro in Mexico, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Fenwick in the UK, Isetan in Japan, Galleria in Korea and Saks Fifth Avenue in the United Arab Emirates.

    Natura Bissé’s head office and factory are based in the Vallés Technology Park in Barcelona. A high percentage of turnover is ploughed back into R&D&I, in the search for new formulations with the maximum possible concentration of effective new active ingredients and innovative textures.

    Its extensive range of products is divided into facial and body cosmetics on the one hand, and salon treatment and sales products on the other. Overall, the brand has more than 150 designer cosmetic references which cover every possible skin-care need. Lines like Diamond (2000) and Inhibit (2004) have achieved unprecedented sales, while with the launch of The Cure collection (2009), Natura Bissé has increased brand awareness even further.

    The company is now extending its distribution network into perfumeries. Its products are sold at more than 170 of Spain’s most exclusive hotels, spas and perfumeries, and it has 40 select POS abroad. The USA, Russia and Mexico are its main international markets.

    In 2009, Natura Bissé is celebrating its 30th anniversary. With the Fiss family’s second generation now at the helm, led by Verónica Fisas, Managing Director and General Manager, it is planning to open retail corners in Australia, Italy, Norway, Bulgaria, China, Brazil, Lebanon and Kuwait.

    The company notched up sales worth €31.5 mill. in 2008 and its export rate stands at 45%.
