Interview with Moisés Amselem, managing director of Novissima
Bridal group Novissima was created more than 40 years ago by Isaac Benarroch, who opened his first bridal and ceremonial gown factory in Spain at a time when they had to be tailor made.
The company is now the second largest in Spain and has collections made by top Spanish designers including Charo Peres, Elio Berhanyer, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Devota & Lomba, Duyos, Camila Elbaz and Javier Larraínzar, in addition to its own gowns which are divided up into several lines. Designer quality, exquisite fabrics and personalised service in Espacio Novissima make the brand what it is today.
In Spain, the Novissima group has 61 points of sale, most of which are retail corners in the El Corte Inglés department based in major Spanish cities. A staggering 110 more are due to open shortly. The company is also expanding globally, and already operates in the USA, Bolivia, Mexico, Chile, Guatemala, Panama and Portugal. It is particularly strong in Mexico and the US, where the designs of Charo Peres have proved especially popular.
The company’s main office, which also houses its showroom and design studio, is based in Madrid, though the group has additional showrooms in New York and Mexico City.
The company, which employs 300 people, regularly attends trade shows including Puerta de Europa (Madrid), Sposa Italia (Milan) and CPM (Moscow). Collections by Charo Peres, Elio Berhanyer, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Devota & Lomba, Duyos and Javier Larraínzar go on show at the Puerta de Europa Catwalk in Madrid.
