Interview with Carmen Lizarriturri and Mencía Moreno
Luxenter has made jewellery and decorative articles with material from Africa since 1972. In 1980, the Spanish company launched its first collection in gold and precious stones, and in 1990 began using silver and semi-precious stones. The result was more affordable collections in the same sophisticated design, preserving the crafted flavour of top-class jewellery.
The company is based in Madrid and has a workforce of 52 which manage the entire creation process. Mother-and-daughter team Carmen Lizarriturri and Mencía Moreno design exclusively for the brand. Each collection of men or women’s jewellery goes by an African name as a tribute to its African heritage.
Design combined with logistics, international distribution and after-sales service have boosted Luxenter growth to spectacular levels, and the brand already has more than 1,500 POS in Spain, including Aldeasa shops at Madrid-Barajas airport’s new Terminal 4. It has a further 250 POS in Germany and 120 in France, and also operates in countries like the USA, Japan, Russia and Mexico
Exports – mainly to Europe – account for 9.8% of output and Luxenter is a regular at top jewellery tradeshows like Baselworld in Switzerland and Iberjoya in Madrid.
