Having worked for several years as a stylist and make-up artist, Estefanía Palomares Ayerbe decided to launch her own women’s clothing label in 2004. This designer was born in Zaragoza and trained in Barcelona, Madrid and Florence in diverse fields including photography, visagism, make-up, fashion figure drawing, and of course, fashion design.
Carefully crafted patterns, excellent quality fabrics and impeccable tailoring are the defining features of Quililai. Moving away from the more avant-garde extremes of fashion, this label is aimed at confident women who want to feel attractive wearing garments that reaffirm their unique personality. Forties style tailored coats and light monochromatic dresses fuse discretion and romanticism, creating very flattering and modern looks.
The city of Zaragoza was chosen for the firm’s flagship store, Quililai Studio, which opened in 2005. This space combines a department store with a workshop, art exhibition area and a section where customers can sample different wines and chocolates. The label’s collections are also sold in other department stores such as Stupid Room, Pije’z y Bless (Madrid) and Vaiven (A Coruña), as well as on line at www.jugandoconhilos.com.
Over the pasts few years, Quililai’s collections have been presented at several fashion fairs: Bread & Butter Barcelona, Atmosphere (Paris), El Ego de Pasarela Cibeles and SIMM (Madrid).
