    Germaine de Capuccini´s interview

The Spanish professional cosmetics company, Germaine de Capuccini, first began in the Dermabel beauty salon, opened by Carmen Vidal in Alcoy (Alicante) during the 1970s. The founder herself created a line of treatments inspired by the handcrafted creams made from herbs, plants and fruit juices that she learned about as a child in Algeria. This range of products led to the creation of Germaine de Capuccini in 1976, which is dedicated to the research and development of cosmetics and treatments for beauty centres and spas.

The company has always held firm to its commitment to quality, carrying out more and more R+D activities everyday and subjecting all its products and treatments to rigorous effectiveness tests in a close doctor-beautician collaboration. The firm’s extensive catalogue currently features some fifty different beauty and make-up products.

Germaine de Capuccini began exporting in 1978, when it started distributing its products to Venezuela, the location of the company’s first international subsidiary, which was then followed by another in Colombia. The next step in its international expansion was Asia, by way of prestigious distributors in Hong Kong and Singapore. Today, the company’s products are distributed in more than seventy counties and are present at the beauty sector’s top professional fairs throughout the world.

With a team of 180 people, the company’s 2006 exports exceeded 10 million euros. The recent signing-on of top models Linda Evangelista and Andrés Velencoso as the brand’s image is a true testament to its success amongst the international public.
