Spanish accessories brand Tantra was founded in Madrid in 1990. The creations of its designer and president Eva García are a study in colour and originality.
Hand-made Tantra accessories started out in two different lines: urban and party. They included shawls, belts and costume jewellery. Not long afterwards, the collection expanded, with the addition of a line of ethnic-style clothes designed for a very feminine woman: skirts, trousers, jackets, kaftans and party tops are all a part of the range. In 2008, the company plans to introduce a homewear line.
Today, Tantra collections are available from more than 3,000 multi-brand retailers, as well as an outlet store in Madrid. Its international growth ambitions have taken it to countries like Italy, Portugal, Greece, Germany and France.
The company’s two annual collections are exhibited at top tradeshows like Bisutex and SIMM in Madrid and Macef in Milan.
Tantra notched up turnover of nearly €1,200,000 in 2006, up 40% on the previous year. Exports accounted for 5%.
