Mardecleo specialises in swimsuit design and manufacture, and launched its first collection in 2003. Sara Gallego, from Madrid, is the designer behind it. MardeCleo has been producing bright fresh collections ever since, taking its inspiration from the waters of the Mediterranean.
MardeCleo offers two different lines in swimwear. The principal range is sophisticated and refreshing, and aimed at a woman who likes a touch of distinction. Sara Gallego offers highly creative bikinis, costumes and accessories like beach wraps and lightweight dresses.
MardeCleo’s second line is aimed at mothers with small children and offers matching and coordinated swimsuits and accessories for both. Sara Gallego pays particular attention to production and fabric quality, with a preference for cotton, silk and lycra of the highest quality.
Her label is now among the most popular on the market, and is available from specialist swimwear retailers in Spain and abroad. The company now has 180 points of sale in Spain, spread between Andalusia, Levante, the Canary Islands and Galicia, from which it makes an annual turnover of €250,000. Abroad, MardeCleo currently has 30 points of sale, which account for yearly profits of €30,000. This number is set to increase in the near future, as the company has embarked on an ambitious global expansion plan. The designer’s international ambitions have taken her to top trade fairs like Lyon Mode City, where she has made deals with Italian, Swiss and Australian distributors.
