Helena Rohner was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1968 and is one of Spain’s most global jewellery designers.
She studied Politics in Britain and was initially set for a career in international politics when, in an abrupt change, she went into jewellery design, a profession in which she has now worked for more than 10 years.
Her jewellery is silver-based, but incorporates fine wood, semi-precious stones, porcelain and Murano glass, which she turns into miniature works of art in keeping with the latest trends. The designer recently began to include gold in her jewellery and has just presented her first collection of cutting-edge rings and pendants made from this metal.
Helena Rohner has a rare combination of artistic talent and business spirit. Her jewellery is comfortable, easy to wear and feels like part of the wearer.
In recent years, the designer has diversified into other sectors and in 2000 presented her first collection of articles for the home, including vases, teapots, cups and other items in enamelled earthenware. Each season brings new and surprising creations, like the lamp she designed for Seven Seas, which combined steel, enamelled earthenware and wood. She regularly works with fashion designers like Paul Smith, Julie Sohn and Juanjo Oliva.
Helena Rohner has achieved global renown in her field and her work can be found at exclusive retailers in major cities all over the world, including London, Paris, New York and Tokyo. She also produces exclusive jewellery for Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum and the Thyssen Bornemisza in Madrid. The designer has two boutiques of her own, one in Madrid and one in Barcelona, and points of sale in Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Portugal, Britain and Sweden.
