Interview with Basilio García, chairman of Calzados Hergar

Calzados Hergar sells under the Callaghan label. The company was set up in Arnedo (La Rioja) in 1968, but it was not until 1987 that the current label was developed.

Callaghan shoes are practical, comfortable and innovative. They are manufactured in the finest leathers, which are tanned naturally and incorporate state-of-the-art features pioneered by the company. These include Airclimaction (which reduces foot temperature), the “wind tunnel” system for greater stepping comfort and its Adaptaction line – the first shoe that adapts to fit the foot. The company has also conducted major advertising campaigns positioning its footwear as a multi-style product for men, women and children.

A large proportion of the company’s sales are to foreign markets. It is also a regular at some of the sector’s major fairs including Micam en Milan and GDS in Dusseldorf.
