  • PROFILE

Industrial designers Luca Leonardo and Patricio Abreu started up the Vaho Works eco-design studio in Barcelona in 2001. It is here that they conduct their research on recycling, looking for new ways to use a vast selection of throw-away materials and turning them into fashion products, accessories and furnishings.

Their approach is known as “trashion”, a concept which combines “trash” with “fashion”, making designer goods from industrial waste. The materials they use include PVC advertising banners. The diverse selection of practical, ergonomic designs are colourful and exclusive.

Their products – in particular bags of all shapes and sizes – are available in cities including Madrid, Rome, Milan, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, London, Tokyo, Moscow, Montreal and New York. In June 2005, a major display and sales area opens in Barcelona. The year 2005 also marked their first appearance at the alternative fashion fair Bread & Butter.
