Born in Barcelona in 1932, Octavio Sardà was virtually brought up with jewellery. He began his career in designer jewellery at the studio of Don José Llovera i Mas in 1950. Four years later, he set up his own firm. In 1973, he organised his first exhibition and became Spain’s top jewellery exporter. His pioneering activities in this field brought him numerous awards and international accolades.
Octavio Sardà has always incorporated new technology into jewellery production. Micro-fusion (moulding and wax injection) and electroforming are among the processes he developed and used as early as the nineties.
One of Octavio Sardà’s major contributions was the design of the coat of arms of Constitutional Spain, which he delivered to King Juan Carlos I in person in 1983. He also worked with painter Salvador Dalí, with whom he designed 42 bronze sculptures that are now held at the Reynolds Morse Foundation, at the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1984, he took part in the top Basel catwalk “Golden Fashion”, organised by the International Gold Corporation.
Octavio Sardà continues to produce his own fine quality products and works with top jewellery and gift firms.
