Barcelona based The Avant was launched in September 2003 and has taken part in other events including Murcia’s Open Catwalk and the Gwand Fashion Show in Lucerne, Switzerland. In 2004, it was selected by Business Bridge to show its Spring-Summer 2005 collection at Private View in New York. Its Autumn-Winter 2005 collection has recently received an award from Gen Art, an American organisation dedicated to showcasing emerging fashion talent. The Avant also takes part in the international fashion trade exhibition Atmosphere in Paris and in Marisol de la Cruz showroom in Milan.
The Avant creates cutting-edge collections for women who take an intellectual approach to fashion. Its designs are based on quality, natural materials, excellent craft finish, comfort, innovation, experimentation and vintage style. The firm’s creative director and designer is Silvia García Presas, who studied at the Royal College of Art in London. Other regular designers include Nicole Schutz (knitwear) and Lucy Fine (accessories).
The Avant collections are sold by multi-brand retailers and are based on a capsule-collection system, comprising a variety of limited-edition garments with a coherent image. In Spain, they are available in Barcelona, Madrid, Majorca and Alicante, and can also be purchased abroad in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, USA, Russia and Japan.
