Festina - Lotus, feature story
The Festina group was founded more than 25 years ago by entrepreneur Miguel Rodríguez. Its head office is in Barcelona and its watch brands include Festina, Lotus, Jaguar, Candino and Calypso. The group employs 2,000 people all over the world.
Festina has always made design and product quality its watchwords. In Spain, it was the first company to launch a watch with a moon phase indicator (1985), a titanium watch (1995), an aluminium watch (1999) and a transparent watch (2004).
Festina has a production centre in Herbetswil, Switzerland, where it produces 2,000 high-quality Swiss watches every day. It also has subsidiaries in other parts of Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, the USA and Chile and sells its creations to 65 countries on all five continents. It also takes part in key trade fairs in Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy, the USA and Germany.
Lotus watches sell more than any other brand in the Spanish market, where annual sales are around 800,000. The group sells a total of 3,800,000 watches each year all over the world.
Festina is co-sponsor of the Fortuna-Honda motorcycle team (250 cc), with Spanish riders Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera (Lotus).
