    Interview with Miguel Palacio

Miguel Palacio started out with Fernando Lemoniez in 1989, creating the Palacio & Lemoniez label and presenting collections at the Cibeles catwalk from 1991-1998.

In 1995 Miguel Palacio moved to Paris, developing an international concept and style whilst working with the prestigious French fashion industry. During this time, he acquired extensive knowledge of the world of fashion and set up business links with countries like the US (Barneys NY, Bergdorf Goodman…), Japan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, etc. and with key clients like Princess Caroline of Monaco and Ariel de Rothschild.

In 2000 Miguel Palacio ventured out alone under his own label. He has been presenting collections at the Cibeles Catwalk since February 2001, where his concept of a modern, elegant, alluring and quality-conscious woman proved something to be a sensation.

Since then, he has received a series of awards and accolades. In 2002 he obtained the prestigious Telva T Award for Best Spanish Designer. In the same year, he created the Miguel Palacio Bridal Wear line with the multinational Pronovias. In 2003, he won the Marie Claire Fashion Award for Designer of the Year.

In June 2007 he won the Uniform Design Competition for the Spanish Pavilion at the World Exposition of Zaragoza 2008. In September 2008 he created his first shoe collection which he completed in 2009 with a new line in accessories. In February 2010 he won the prestigious L´Oréal award for the best autumn-winter collection at Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week.

His prize-winning collections have a classic, complex elegance, with understatement and mystery. Miguel Palacio designs and makes his garments to measure, as well as his bridal wear at his studio at 24, Monte Esquinza in Madrid. In 2010 he will also embark on a new phase with the opening of his first shop in Madrid, at 10, Calle Don Ramón. The new premises will also accommodate his accessory unvierse, with bags, belts, and shoes.
