José Miró was born in Majorca and trained at Barcelona’s School of Fashion Arts and Techniques. But it was in Paris that he embarked on his career, making a big entry when he produced his first haute couture collection with Thierry Mugler. He worked with the French designer from 1996 until 2000, when he returned to Spain as studio and workshop manager for Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada.
In 2001, he decided to launch his own business in Majorca and presented his collections at Circuit, during Barcelona Fashion Week. The following year, he combined a career in design with teaching, at the Ars Nova School in Palma de Majorca.
In September 2003, he made his début on the Cibeles Catwalk with his “Baraka” collection, which won the L’Oréal Paris award for best young designer. The same year marked the beginning of his international expansion, when he took part in the renowned Hortensia de Hutten Showroom in Paris, where he continues to present all his collections. In 2004, he also took part in London’s Metropolitan Fashion Week.
