Creaciones Caspiel S.L, which specialises in producing bags and other accessories, was set up in 1975 and has been selling its Cats brand ever since. From the outset, this Madrid-based firm has focused on design and on the quality of its materials to offer a product which combines casual elegance and comfort. The resulting collections made from coconut, leather and suede in a range of different colours have a classic feel, but stay firmly in touch with the latest trends.
Initially a family firm, it now employs a total of 80 people across its different departments. The current annual turnover is Euro 3.5 million, about half of which comes from exports. In Spain, its products are sold by multi-brand retailers and department stores, whereas abroad it uses agents and trade fairs to market its wares. Its main foreign markets are the US, which accounts for 20% of exports, followed by Italy and Benelux, which account for 10% each. Other European Union countries are also represented, including Germany, Britain and Portugal, as are more distant destinations like Japan.
The firm also makes an appearance at international trade fairs including Collection Premiere Moscow, Mipel (Milan), Ilm Winter Styles (Offenbach) and Iberpiel (Madrid).
