    Caramelo´s interview

In 1969, José Antonio Caramelo, Luis Gestal and Javier Cañas joined together in a business devoted to the production of raincoats. Two years later they created the Chelton, Yale and Tommy Harrods brands, in a qualitative leap for a company that soon began to manufacture men’s trousers, jackets and shirts.

However, it was in 1984, with the launch of the Caramelo brand, which offered both mens and womenswear, when the company decided to head in a new direction, changing with the times.

Today Caramelo is one of Spain’s leading fashion names. The company has more than 30 years of market experience and know how. The firm provides direct employment for 900 people, with over 35,000 m2 of production area and an annual turnover of around 71 million euros.

In 2003, founding partner Javier Cañas left the company and two years later, in 2005, the Caramelo Group bought the Antonio Pernas brand. It now operates the three brands Caramelo, Caramelo Jeans and Antonio Pernas, and its garments are sold at 1,500 points of sale in 27 countries around the world.

Over the last few years the firm has increased its production capacity to 1.5 million garments a year. This growth has enabled it to expand into international markets. In addition to its Spanish stores, the Company has retail outlets in 27 countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Greece, Chile, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, Kuwait, Mexico, Portugal and Russia.
