Sybilla is the designer behind this brand name, created in 1993. Following the success of her designs in Japan, she was encouraged by manufacturers to create a second line. This new line was meant to be less formal and at a lower price. The resounding success of the Japanese launch of the brand was followed in 1999 by its introduction on the Spanish market. Jocomomola has been created not so much as a designer label but as a brand for a younger target at an affordable price. Fun, carefree and full of character, the collection is produced in Japan and sold in Spain at more than 200 multi-brand retailers and the Jocomomola shop in Madrid. The recent signing of experienced designer Arnaud Maillard as new creative director of both Jocomomola and Sybilla will contribute to its globalisation process.
Jocomomola was conceived as a designer image free brand. The firm offered affordable fashion for the younger end of the market. An informal and fun-loving brand with a clearly defined personality. The clothes are produced in Japan and shipped to Spain. They are sold in multibrand stores as well as in the brand’s own store in Madrid.
The Jocomomola strategy is taking the brand into new product areas like footwear, hats, umbrellas, scarves, costume jewellery and swimwear, all with its own unique imprint. The home textiles line Jocomomola Casa brings the colourful Jocomomola universe to towels, aprons, slippers, sheets, pyjamas, candles, stationery and shower curtains... The label has recently launched a kidswear label and has similar plans for fragrances and eyewear.
Jocomomola present its women’s ready-to-wear collections at the Pasarel.la Barcelona catwalk each season.
