Lydia Delgado was born in Barcelona. Having entered the world of dance as a ballerina at the Barcelona Lyceum, her passion for creating her own jewellery and clothes steered her into the world of fashion. Thanks to a chance meeting, the designer Antonio Miró offered her the opportunity to work in his studio.
In 1987, the designer opened her own atelier in the centrally-located Calle Minerva, in Barcelona. Soon afterwards, she opened her own store, which coincided with the presentation of her first collection at the Gaudí Fashion Show in 1992. Since 2006 her collections have been shown at the Pasarela Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week.
Her first collections featured exclusive couture creations, made with patience and emotion, revealing a constant search for artistic expression.
In 1998 Lydia Delgado launched her prêt-à-porter range, although without sacrificing her commitment to careful work and perfectionism. These garments suggest daring combinations, but not without a touch of irony.
In 2001 Lydia presented her first collection of bridal gowns at the Pedralbes Royal Palace. An avant-garde proposal that retained her hallmarks in the shapes and details, but which surprised through its introduction of contrasting colours and an air of mischievousness. One year later, the company Pronovias signed a licensing agreement to distribute Lydia Delgado’s bridal wear collections.
In 2004 Lydia Delgado opened her store in Madrid, in the central district of Salamanca.
Lydia Delgado distributes her collections at over 150 exclusive stores and has achieved a strong position in the fashion in market in Spain, as well as other countries such as Japan, Korea, the US, Canada, Russia, France, the UK, Italy, Germany, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
