Víctor Caparrós started his career with a small jewellery workshop in Barcelona. In 1968 he opened his first store in Casp Street, also in Barcelona, where he sold his jewellery designs. It took just a few years for this small workshop to turn into a consolidated company, which in 1983 entered a new phase of expansion with the opening of a new store in Enric Granados Street, on the corner with Barcelona's famous Diagonal Avenue.

Víctor Caparrós' tireless energy and exhaustive research into metal working techniques have enabled him to overcome the inherent limitations imposed by jewellery making techniques and materials in an innovative and original manner. Caparrós has dedicated years to the study of ways of creating softer tones of gold such as pink, grey or green, in order to create warm colour and integrated colour schemes that stand out from the coldness of traditional yellow and white gold. The result of this research is Omicron, an original alloy made up of the principal precious metals, whose exceptional smoothness and unique graphite colour has proved immensely successful.

In 1980, his work in collaboration with the fashion designer Jesús del Pozo earned him further recognition, in this instance the Award for Best Designer of the Year. Later, Caparrós worked with the Barcelona-based haute couture firm Santa Eulalia, creating a collection entitled La magia de las nuevas joyas (The Magic of New Jewels). Institutional recognition of his work came in 1982, when Victor Caparrós designed the commemorative chalice given to Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his visit to Spain.

Caparrós' designs began to be known abroad in 1983, when he held his first exhibition in Japan. During this period he also worked with Promostil in Paris on a study looking into future trends within the sector. He also participated in the itinerant exhibition Gold in Fashion, organised by the International Gold Corporation, and which took his designs all over Spain, New York, Hawaii and Switzerland. In 1990 he represented Spain in the itinerant jewellery exhibition The Best of Europe, organised by DeBeers International. During these years he continued to work with Jesús del Pozo, designing the jewellery for his 1984 ready-to-wear collection, which was presented at the Cibeles Fashion Show.
During the eighties he made frequent incursions into the academic world, offering several lectures at the School of Architecture in Madrid, Barcelona's School of Design and at the Congress Hall in Andorra. He also gave a series of seminars organised by DeBeers and held all over Spain. In the year 2000 he was appointed Design Director for the first edition of the Diamond Trading Company Design Workshop, held at the head offices of J. Walter Thompson in Madrid.

In1993 he presented the collection Diamantes en movimiento at Madrid's Teatriz theatre, with the collaboration of the Nacho Duato Ballet. From then on Diamantes en Movimiento (Diamonds in Movement) became the name for all his collections distributed both in Spain and on the international markets and which are presented to the press every year.

He continued with his international expansion policy throughout the nineties, with presentations in Japan and advisory work for the World Gold Council in New York on design in Central America. In Mexico he carried out a study into the industrial and market structure of the jewellery sector and presented a collection before the media that he had designed and produced in Mexico as part of that study. During the decade a total of five Victor Caparrós boutiques were opened in several Japanese cities (Tokyo, Kobe, Kioto and Osaka).

In 1997 he began to work with a number of other fashion designers, in addition to Jesús del Pozo. Amaya Arzuaga, Roberto Verino and Devota & Lomba all selected his designs to accompany their creations. In 2002, Victor Caparrós was awarded the Catalunya Award for Communication and Public Relations, at the 18th Edition of the Best Professional Awards.
Víctor Caparrós has received numerous awards and prizes throughout his career. In 1977 he received an award from DeBeers for his diamond collection inspired by surrealist motifs. A year later he received another award from DeBeers, this time in the category " Prestige solitaires”. DeBeers would once again acknowledge his work, awarding him a prize for his work in gold and diamond sculpture. These awards paved the way for Caparrós to exhibit his creations as true works of art. In 1979, Victor Caparrós, in his capacity as a founding member of the Barcelona-based FAD (Promotion of Decorative Arts-Goldsmiths' Association), exhibited his works in Santa Águeda Chapel (Barcelona City Hall).
