  • PROFILE

Sara Navarro (Elda, Alicante, 1957) belongs to the third generation of a family of industrial and handcrafted footwear specialists based in the city of Elda. She created her own brand name in July 1979, bringing a new spirit of design and fashion to the company.
Sara graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Valencia, where she specialised in Psychology, combining her university course with art and language studies. She later went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Spain's Escuela de Organización Industrial. She was awarded diplomas in footwear design from the Ars Sutoria Institute and the Domus Academy in Milan. After obtaining a master's degree in fashion, directed by Gianfranco Ferré, she went on to become the designer for the family business (Komfort Spain S.L.) at a very young age. Her passion for art also led her to undertake periods of study in classical art at the Dante Aligheri School in Florence.

Since 1979 Sara Navarro has held the position of executive director of the design department at Komfort Spain, as well as director of the Sara Navarro footwear and accessory lines (shoes, bags, leather outfits, etc.) She has also been vice-chairman of the business group since 1987. In 1997 she set up the company Ene Goods with her brother Eduardo Navarro, in order to produce a wide range of products to complement the Sara Navarro footwear lines. In December 2000 she founded Sara World, a design studio for the development of special projects in fashion design, promotion and marketing.

Sara Navarro finds her inspiration in the abstract, and particularly in literature. For this designer, creating new footwear designs is like inventing a tale or a story, which, instead of being written down, takes the form of footwear. The initial idea is always based on the abstract, which is later transformed into a physical object. Highly creative and with a strong personality, she has made her mark on the major national and international catwalks, working in collaboration with designers such as John Galiano or Martine Stbon.

Since 1985 Sara Navarro has been a regular presence at all the leading national and international footwear events, including Madrid's Modacalzado, the Dusseldorf Shoe Fair, the London Fashion Designer Show, the Tokyo Fair, the Première Classe Fair in Paris, Micam in Milan, Midec in Paris or Hong Kong's International Foot Wear Fair.

Throughout her career, the designer has received a number of prestigious awards, including the 12th Edition of the Gregorio Sánchez Award (2003) the FEDEPE Award for Businesswoman of the Year (2001) or the tribute paid to her by the Spanish Association of Fashion Writers in 1993.
Her interest in literature led her to sponsor the Sara Navarro National Story Competition, which was held between 1980 and 1990.

This designer has recently celebrated her twentieth anniversary in the fashion sector. Her career has been marked by her constant innovations, which have earned her major awards for creativity and design, as well as a growing diversification towards new product lines, taking her beyond the footwear and leather sectors.

Immersed in a strategy aimed at consolidating her presence on international markets, and in the early stages of a project designed to create her own stores, in 2002 Sara Navarro received the "Businesswoman of the Year" Award.
