Julie Sohn was born in Korea in 1966 although she moved to New York during her early childhood. She studied fashion at the Parsons School of Design in New York, and later at the same school in Paris, following her move there in 1987. On graduating in 1988, she obtained her early experience in the fashion world with Anne Klein (New York) and Pecklers (Paris).
In 1988 she moved to Barcelona, working with Purificación García from 1988 until 1991, and with David Valls, between 1991 and 1993. Nine seasons ago she produced her first individual collection, which was produced and distributed by Carusa. Her clothes are sold in Spain, the United States, Japan and England.
In 1997 she opened her first store in the heart of Barcelona (which received the 1998 Edition of the FAD Award for Interior Decorating), followed in September by a second store, situated in Mestre Nicalu Street in the same city. She has participated regularly at the Atmosphère Prêt-à-Porter (Paris), Pure Womenswear (London) and Barcelona Estilo fashion shows. She has presented her collections at three editions of the Gaudí Fashion Show and at the last four editions of the Cibeles Fashion Show. Her next collection will be presented at the September edition of the Cibeles Fashion Show.
