Autumn/Winter 2012/2013
Since 1974 when he first opened his menswear shop on Madrid’s Calle Almirante, Jesús del Pozo has devoted body and soul to a warm and personal universe which revolves around lines and material innovation.
His first menswear collection was presented at SEHM in Paris in 1976. Four years later, in 1980, he made his ready-to-wear womenswear debut. In 1989 he moved his presentation to the Fashion Foundation in Tokyo and in 1990 to La Coure Carrée in the Louvre, in Paris. Since his debut at Cibeles, Jesús del Pozo has become a key designer at Madrid Fashion Week, to which he has been loyal from the outset.
In the early Nineties, Jesús del Pozo made his entry into the world of fragrance with his women’s perfume Duende (1992). In 1994 he presented his first men’s fragrance Quasar, which was followed by “Esencia de Duende” (1996), Halloween (1997), Quasar Adventure (1999), On El(2001), On Ella (2001), J. del Pozo In Black (2005) and J. del Pozo In White (2007). Next came Halloween Kiss (2008) and Halloween Kiss Sexy (2009). To celebrate 35 years in fashion, the designer launched Ambar (2010).
In addition to his love for fashion, Jesús del Pozo is a performing arts enthusiast, a passion that has led him to create wardrobes for theatre, ballet, film and opera, in partnership with directors and artists like Alicia Alonso, Aída Gómez and José Antonio Ruiz, José Carlos Plaza, Bob Wilson, Emilio Sagi and Fernando Trueba. The projects which made the greatest impression on him were his creation of 500 costumes for Bizet’s Carmen, at the opera produced by the Teatro Real for the 98-99 season directed by Emilio Sagi, and LA Opera in Los Angeles (US) during the 08-09 season.
From the year 2000 onwards, Jesús del Pozo extended his designer lines to include accessories and eyewear, plus an extensive collection of crockery and home fabrics. He has moved to a new studio on Madrid’s Ronda de Toledo, in bright, open-plan premises where he works in his “ideas lab” and researches concepts, material and cuts with his design team. His creative endeavours are reflected both in the collections he presents at Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week, his ready-to-wear and bridal wear. He has also created the Jesús del Pozo Foundation to pass on his experience and enthusiasm to a new generation of designers and fashion lovers.
