The designer Guillermina Baeza was born in the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco. The mix of races and cultures there, combined with a very European education, will always be the inspiration for her creative work. In the 1960s, Baeza moved to Barcelona, where she began her professional career and gradually started to make a name for herself in the world of swimwear and lingerie fashion.
In the 1980s, Guillermina Baeza became renowned for the most important European distribution tours and, essentially, major fashion catwalks such as the Salón Gaudí in Barcelona and Prêt-À-Porter in Paris. Three decades later, Guillermina Baeza has become a prestigious and emblematic figure in the Spanish fashion world, while the presentations of her swimwear and lingerie collections have become a twice yearly must for the media.
Guillermina Baeza has her own style full of originality and glamour, which supports her maxim that “swimwear and lingerie are not just mere accessories. They are just as important today as outer garments”. In Spain her designs are regularly requested by fashion groups such as Cortefiel, Massimo Dutti, Hoss Intropia, Mango Touch and Neck&Neck, in kidswear. At the end of 1998, Guillermina Baeza joined one of the most powerful industrial groups in Spanish fashion, Pulligan Internacional, strengthening her already prominent position in the sector. In 2006, she joined the company Bora-Bora, where she remains today.
One of Guillermina Baeza’s best attributes has always been knowing how to apply her intuition to the market's needs, so that she can satisfy its different segments according to styles, tastes and ages. As a result, her second swimwear line, Lola Escobar, offers a product perfect for younger people. At the moment, her daughter Belén Larruy is working alongside the veteran designer as part of the creative team's management.
For the children's market, Guillermina Baeza Children offers original and practical bathing costume and outer garment designs for little ones. It is also a habitual presence at the sector’s most important fairs, such as FIMI in Valencia and Pitto Bimbo in Florence. Other product lines are currently being prepared, such as an outer garments collection, one for home wear and another for cosmetics, all the result of Guillermina’s evolution into exploring other fields apart from just swimwear and underwear.
