Mango meets its Match in Norway

12/15/2011

A new alliance is born between the Spanish fashion label and the prestigious Nordic chain.

Mango, one of the leading Spanish fashion groups in the world, has taken another step along the road to international expansion with the opening of new sales spaces in Norway.

The Spanish fashion label has recently signed a cooperation agreement with MATCH, one of Norway’s most prestigious chains, for its launch into a number of Norwegian cities.

This new initiative will launch in February, with the opening of Mango’s first four corners in the Sandnes, Drammen, Sarpsborg and Bryne stores. It plans to open 6 new spaces in Match stores throughout 2012 and expects to have a total of 50 corners up and running by 2015.

According to Daniel López, shareholder and Board Member of the Spanish fashion house, “MATCH was our main target in our search for a partner to help us extend our brand in the Norwegian market. Its expertise in this kind of shop, with Match House of Fashion, was of particular interest to us, and the profile of its clientele and its passion for the trade make it the perfect match for Mango.”

Founded in 1989, MATCH is considered to be one of Norway’s leading fashion chains, with a total of 132 stores throughout the country.

Mango entered the Norwegian market with a shop in Stavanger in the year 2000, and now has 8 own points of sale in cities such as Oslo, Berger and Sand. This market accounts for 33% of the group’s total sales in Scandinavia, which grew by 29% in 2011.
