All Inditex chains now operate in Russia.
The accessories chain Uterqüe is opening its first shop in Moscow. The shop is in Metropolis, one of the Russian capital’s first malls and in line with the chain’s interior design, inspired by old British libraries.
This opening will take the total shop figure for the Uterqüe brand – which was founded in 2008 to make accessories a wardrobe mainstay – up to 60 in 13 countries (Spain, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Cyprus, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey and Russia).
With Uterqüe now in Russia, all the Inditex chains are operating in the country, one of the major markets for the Group both in terms of the sales network and the success of the different chains’ respective products. Inditex opened its first shop in Russia in 2003 and now has 139 boutiques in a dozen cities around the country.
Although Inditex has not yet published its results for 2009, in the first nine months of the year it notched up total sales of €7.759 bn, up 8% on the same period for 2008. The group has 4,530 shops in 73 countries.
