Custo Barcelona at Russian Fashion Week

Custo Barcelona at Russian Fashion Week

11/11/2008

The Spanish firm’s intense spectrum of colours makes the Moscow catwalk vibrate as the public applauds their spring/summer collection for 2009.

On 1 November, Russian Fashion Week played host to the colourful creations for men and women by the Spanish brand Custo Barcelona for the first time. The fashion show, which took place in the World Trade Centre in Moscow before an audience of more than 500 people, showcased more than seventy outfits, and brought the firm's spring/summer collection for 2009 to the attention of the Russian public.

Custo did not disappoint the Muscovite public, showing off light dresses, puff mini skirts, and silk tops, which flaunted vibrant graphics, multicoloured trimmings, and prints in intense tones. Their male collection made an impact with suits in pastel tones and risky prints which ranged from polka dots or op art to the most psychedelic fantasy.

On 3 November the Spanish designer Toni Francesc also had the chance to show off his creations on the catwalk.

The Russian market has great potential for Spanish brands, which is why firms such as Armand Basi, Dal Bat, El Caballo, Isabel de Pedro, Paco Chicano, and Antonio Garcia have been present at events similar to this programme of fashion shows.

Created twenty-seven years ago by brothers Custo and David Dalmau, Custo Barcelona has gone from being a brand that produced carefully illustrated t-shirts depicting surfer-style graphics to a firm that launches collections including prêt à-porter, bags, accessories, footwear, sunglasses, bath products, and fragrances every season. The company boasts more than forty shops of their own, as well as 3,000 points of sale worldwide.
