Torrubia&Torrubia, finalist in NY

01/31/2012

The young jewellery firm was the only Spanish company at the Fashion Group International Rising Star Awards.

In 2009, Amaia and Yolanda Torrubia, the third generation of a San Sebastian-based family of artisan jewellers, launched their own brand of Designer Fine Jewellery: Torrubia&Torrubia.

As specialists in creating unique and sophisticated items of jewellery, they offer their clients an exclusive jewellery to order service. Their men’s and ladies’ collections fuse disciplines as varied as music, visual arts, cinema and, of course, fashion.

Right from the outset, the brand’s fine materials and excellent finishes have won it the attention of important international publications from the fashion industry. Having won the V Tahitian Pearl Trophy, in 2010 the Torrubia&Torrubia collections were nominated for the Rising Star Award, run by Fashion Group International via its prestigious WWD magazine.

The Fashion Group International (America’s Fashion Association) was founded in 1928 by Elizabeth Arden, Helena Rubinstein and Eleanor Roosevelt and, via its Rising Star Award, seeks to celebrate the emerging careers of up and coming talents in the design and fashion industry.

In the 2011 awards, the jewellery firm went from nominee to finalist, making it the only Spanish firm in this edition, where it has participated with items from its first collection. The finalist designs are its “Constellation” necklace, and the “Momento 149”, “70 Star” and “Jupiter I” rings in pink gold, white gold, diamonds and Tahiti pearls.

With a standalone shop in San Sebastian’s Calle Legazpi, Torrubia&Torrubia has taken part in the New York Fashion Week on two occasions and it has been personally selected by the well-known stylist Nicola Formichetti to form part of her concept store in New York.
