SIMM Febrero 2012

Autumn 2012 at SIMM

01/26/2012

More than 900 brands will exhibit at the Madrid International Fashion Week, which opens on February 2.

Having closed its last edition with a 14% increase in the number of professional visitors from 62 countries, the prospects for the 67th edition of SIMM look excellent.

The event, which will be held at the Feria de Madrid exhibition centre from 2-4 February, will bring together the Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 collections of almost 900 national and international women’s fashion and accessories brands. In an attempt to boost their projection in the European, Middle Eastern and Nordic Markets, both SIMM and Modacalzado (the footwear trade show that will take place from 11-13 March) have been working hard to strengthen their buyer and international press programmes for their 2012 editions.

Once again, SIMM will occupy the whole of pavilions 12 and 14 of the trade fair centre and will coincide with the IFEMA Fashion Showrooms, which will be held in the complex’s Northern Convention Centre.

The February 2012 edition of SIMM will also include an interesting programme of parallel activities that will take place in the Speaker’s Corner Forum. A range of seminars and presentations by reputed professionals will address current issues affecting the dressmaking industry.

The Spanish firms that will present their Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 collections will include brands specialised in knitwear such as Viriato and Diktons Barcelona, as well as the smart urban names Naulover and Javier Simorra, the more youthful Rosalita Mc Gee and Sidecar; Laga, with its bohemian prints, and the party and cocktail wear labels Veneno en la piel, Alba Conde and Matilde Cano.

Double-figure growth
The international markets are stimulating demand for Spanish fashion, which saw its exports increase to €,862,885m between January and November 2011, representing a year-on-year growth of 14%. France, Portugal and Italy are still the leading European markets, although the most favourable growth rates this year have been registered in Belgium (22%), Germany (15%) and the UK (13%).
Outside of the EU, exports to Mexico increased by 22%, to €194,247m, making Spain the leading European fashion design supplier in that market.

Spring is back at SIMM
