Camper’s Together concept will add a touch of colour to Lijnbaan, Holland’s most historic pedestrian shopping street.
Following its recent launch in Rome, Camper Together now takes us to Rotterdam, where it has just opened its first shop.
Inspired by the Camper shop in the Spanish city of San Sebastian, Alfredo Häberli’s latest offering is characterised by a truly fresh, sea-blue feel. Located in Lijnbaan, the first street to be pedestrianised in Holland, back in 1953, the shop is designed as a multicolour aquarium.
Large colourful windows form a mini-island in the middle of the street, giving visitors the sensation of walking into an aquarium, a concept that the Argentinian designer first tried out in the Camper shop in San Sebastian. The river that runs through the city is superimposed on abstract terraces in electric blue, which is reproduced as a background on the wall. Red, on the other hand, so characteristic in the brand’s logo, is used as a contrast in the form of delightful fish floating on the blue background.
Inside, every detail has been carefully thought out to ensure that the designs and colours of Camper’s shoes blend in with the aquarium as seaweed, coral and exotic shellfish.
Alfredo Häberli is one of the most charismatic designers of recent decades. Originally from Argentina, he has settled in Zürich, where he studied, and from where he works with some of Europe’s most prestigious companies. Before joining the Camper Together project, he designed the Campermeable model, a combination that has been highly successful over the last five years.
Camper Together was born in 2006to give expression to the Spanish company’s interest in art and architecture. Since then, it has reaped a great deal of success and has grown throughout the world with a total of 15 new sale points opened in 2011. From Rotterdam, the brand will move on to Bologna, Berlin, Amsterdam and Washington.
Camper, which still has its headquarters in Inca, Majorca, currently operates 68 shops, 75 shop-in-shops and 12 outlets as standalones, and 75 shops, 4 outlets and 65 shop-in-shops as franchises, in 42 countries.
