Who's Next 2012

The best of Spanish fashion at the revamped WHO’S NEXT / Prêt-à-porter trade show

01/19/2012

One of Europe’s largest events for the different sectors of the Fashion world is to take place at Paris-Expo, Porte de Versailles, from 21 to 24 January.

Paris's various trade shows are being reorganised under a new name and with re-segmented spaces. This reorganisation will increase the importance of the Who's Next show, which will comprise the following sections: Fame (the high-end brands of designers of international repute); Private (women's brands with a significant international presence); MrBrown (leading men's fashion labels); Première Classe and Messe Around for shoes and Le Cube for leather goods.

This new structure, which was announced at the last edition in September 2011, comes as a result of the desire of its organisers to revamp the various existing trade shows in order to make Paris an international attraction for fashion buyers.

The Port de Versailles trade shows are a world reference in the fashion industry. Proof of this are their more than 50,000 professional visitors, over 35% of whom come from abroad. With more than two thousand brands, exhibitors will be presenting their best collections for Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 at the upcoming show.

A number of Spanish labels will be present, as Spain's most exclusive and international fashion and footwear brands are set to attend this prestigious trade show, mainly concentrated in the Private, Première Classe and Messe Around spaces.

Ladies fashion labels will include Sita Murt, Hoss Intropia, Nice Things, Yerse, Florentino, Monoplaza, Laga, Sidecar, Etxart & Panno and TCN; while confirmed footwear brands include Chie Mihara, Pretty Ballerinas, Pons Quintana, George's, Pertini, Munich, Sendra Boots, New Rock and Sancho Boots.

The organisers have also decided to bring forward part two of the trade show. The next edition, which will see the presentation of the Summer 2013 collections, will take place from June 30 to July 3.

France is the currently main export market for the various segments of Spanish fashion. Clothes sales there amounted to €782.9m in the first ten months of 2011, with a year-on-year growth of 11% compared to the same period in the previous year and a market share of 14%.

Spanish footwear sales there, on the other hand, amounted to €392m from January-October 2011, with a year-on-year growth of 6% and a market share of 21%.
