Both companies have signed a five-year agreement to develop and manufacture a new line of Kelme Star 360º indoor football shoes.
Kelme, a Spanish company with over 30 years of experience in the footwear, textile and accessories sector, has signed a partnership agreement with the tyre manufacturer Michelin to create the Kelme Star 360º indoor football shoes.
Unique in the market, they feature an innovative non-slip rubber sole that offers optimal grip and excellent abrasion resistance.
Developed at the Michelin Technology Centre in Clermont-Ferrand (France), these soles are the result of more than six months of work carried out jointly by technicians from Kelme and Michelin’s product development department. Inescop (Technological Institute for Footwear and Related Industries) has also collaborated on this project, sharing its experience in the definition and validation of sole components.
The agreement was signed in January 2010 and has a duration of five years. It covers the estimated manufacturing of more than one million pairs of shoes that will be marketed in the 40 countries in which the Spanish sports company operates.
Kelme’s pre-sales for this shoe line already exceed 50,000 pairs. The line will be launched to the market in February 2011 with the support of promotional events in Brazil, the United States, Japan, Russia, France and Spain. It is expected that new models will gradually be added to the initial collection.
