Juajo Oliva for Fosco

Juanjo Oliva and Guillermina Baeza for Fosco

03/15/2010

The swimwear designer creates a collection for summer and the couturier for winter 2011.

Footwear brand Fosco surprises us each season with a capsule collection designed by Spanish designers taking part in Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week. Previous designers have included Ana Locking, Miriam Ocáriz and Josep Abril. Now it is the turn of Guillermina Baeza, who has left her mark on a sensual series of sandals and ballet flats for spring-summer, while in winter couturier Juanjo Oliva will be taking over.

Guillermina Baeza, one of Spain’s leading swimwear designers, has produced an irresistible, limited-edition collection which takes a tour of the "Roaring Twenties", in a tribute to an age marked by women’s liberation from dressing constraints and the star of her independence.

Giddy platforms and seductive sandals – using wood combined with soft suede – strike a balance between solidity and delicacy. The colour range is cold, with a predominance of black, purple and turquoise, in sublime contrast with sparkling metal detail and tassels at the ankle. Cute ballet flats and two bag designs – one of beach inspiration and one vintage briefcase – complete the capsule collection.

For his part, Juanjo Oliva has entered the footwear universe with Garde, a cutting-edge capsule collection for autumn-winter 2010/11, which explores the more theatrical side of shoes, with simple shapes and basic colours. In an extension of his ready-to-wear range, he recreates a feminine universe around a woman as she is and acts, and in the way she projects her inner world on to her surroundings.

Black is the link between these designs, made with the finest and purest leather and wool. Personal detail comes in the shape of gold-coloured buckles. Visually structured, Garde plays with volume and space in designs that are drawn towards movement. The platform and heel are worked in wooden blocks, turned together.

Both collections were officially presented at Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week. They are available at Fosco shops.

Fosco belongs to French group Vivarte, fashion specialist, which owns brands like Naf-Naf, Chevignon, Liberto, Kookaï and Caroll. There are currently more than 70 Fosco shops in Spain and Portugal.
